The report : it must be 20 pages max + appendices on the very technical points that cannot be put in the text (they might not be read by the expert, so try to avoid them) .
This one-month experimental internship is a requirement towards the ENS Diploma. It takes place at the end of the undergraduate programme during the summer, between early July and mid-September. The host institution can be a laboratory of a public research organization or a large company.

In the first year of the Master's program (M1), the second semester (between February and July) is entirely devoted to a laboratory research internship, which students usually carry out abroad.
Les normaliennes et normaliens sont recrutés, en Sciences comme en Lettres, par trois voies distinctes. Ils ont tous accès aux mêmes enseignements, services et infrastructures de l'École.
- via le concours voie classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles (CPGE Sciences) ;
- via le concours normalien étudiant pour les étudiants en 2ème année de classe préparatoire aux grandes écoles scientifiques ou les étudiants en L2 ou L3 scientifique justifiant de 120 crédits ECTS ;
- via la sélection internationale qui permet aux étudiants inscrits dans une université étrangère dans le cadre de leur premier cycle de suivre un cursus de trois ans à l’ENS. Les lauréats perçoivent une bourse mensuelle.
